Founded on August 1, 1998, EPAUSTRAL has established itself as a fundamental pillar in the administration of public port infrastructure, playing a key role in strategic sectors of the regional economy. With a port system that includes the Arturo Prat and José de los Santos Mardones Terminals in Punta Arenas, the Puerto Natales Terminal and seven connectivity ramps from Puerto Edén to Yendegaia, Empresa Portuaria Austral facilitates logistics for more than a thousand kilometers of territory. Its operations support various regional industries, including aquaculture, fishing and tourism, in addition to general cargo transportation. Strategic Projects for the Future of Magallanes In line with its values of innovation and sustainability, EPAUSTRAL is leading key investments to improve and modernize the regional port infrastructure. Among the outstanding initiatives are the projects included in the Programming Agreement between the state-owned company and the Regional Government of Magallanes and the expansion of the José de los Santos Mardones Terminal. In the case of the former, it consists of an investment of US$ 40 million for the reinforcement of the pier slab at the José de los Santos Mardones Terminal, the acquisition of two mobile cranes, improvements to the pier at the Arturo Prat Terminal and the creation of a new Passenger Terminal, among other advances. These initiatives will position Magallanes as a preferential destination, benefiting not only cargo transportation, but also tourism and cultural activities. The expansion of the Mardones Terminal is an investment of US$ 65 million. This project will expand the berthing front of the dock and optimize the back-up areas, preparing to attend emerging initiatives such as the Green Hydrogen projects, thus promoting the sustainable development of the region, as well as the industries that frequent this terminal. Connecting Magallanes EPAUSTRAL’s mission is clear: to manage, develop and operate port infrastructure efficiently, safely and sustainably, promoting regional integration and facilitating its clients’ business. The company’s vision is to consolidate itself as the most competitive port system in the South American southern zone. Empresa Portuaria Austral invites the community and key industry players to learn more about its projects and to participate in this event focused on fishing and aquaculture, thus highlighting its commitment to the economic, social and environmental development of Magallanes.
